How to Evaluate a Research Peptide Supplier: A Checklist

Oct 30, 2026 · 6 min read

Researchers often cannot test a compound themselves before buying it, so the supplier’s evidence matters. Use this checklist to judge how much of it you can actually verify.

Testing you can verify

  • Batch-specific reports from an independent laboratory, not a generic or one-off document.
  • The batch number on the report matches the product you receive.
  • The lab is named and can be contacted.
  • Both purity (HPLC) and identity (mass spectrometry) are shown, ideally with the chromatogram.

Transparency

  • A clear company name, contact route and published policies.
  • Plain statements of what is and is not tested.
  • Consistent product information: names, molecular weights and amounts that agree across the site, the label and the report.

Responsible conduct

  • Research-use-only labelling that is consistent everywhere, not only in a footer.
  • No health, medical or performance claims.
  • No instructions for preparing or using the product on people or animals.
  • Clear age and shipping restrictions.

Red flags

  • Reports that are cropped, undated, or for a different batch.
  • Purity claims with no report behind them.
  • Prices far below the market with no explanation.
  • Any suggestion that a product will improve someone’s health or body.
  • A seller that offers advice on using the product on people or animals.
  • No way to contact the company, or pressure to buy quickly.

Questions to ask before you buy

  1. Which laboratory tested this batch, and can I see the full, uncropped report?
  2. Was identity confirmed by mass spectrometry?
  3. Was net peptide content measured, or only HPLC purity?
  4. How is the product stored and shipped?
  5. What are the return and contact policies?

You can see how we answer these on our Quality page, and in the certificate of analysis linked from each product page.
